FishWorks has supported the work of The Fishermen’s Mission for five years and as well as this year’s cheque, £8,782 has already been donated.
To raise much needed funds, FishWorks restaurants in Swallow Street, Marylebone High Street and Richmond donate £1 from every serving of their popular menu item, Zuppa del pescatore, a traditional fisherman’s stew of fish and shellfish, saffron, tomato and thyme, to the charity.
Joe Teixeira, CEO of FishWorks comments: “We are pleased to be in the privileged position to give something back to the fishermen who battle the elements daily, to provide the freshest produce for our customers to enjoy in our restaurants. The work undertaken by The Fishermen’s Mission is absolutely vital to the well-being of retired and injured fishermen and their families, and for that reason, everyone at FishWorks is extremely proud to support this truly worthy cause.”
Receiving the cheque, Alison Godfrey, director of fundraising with the Fishermen’s Mission, said: “We are so very grateful to everyone at FishWorks for their continued support and friendship. We would also like to thank all their customers for their part in this wonderful donation. As the only charity that works solely with fishermen and their families we know our fishermen are sometimes the forgotten heroes of the UK’s wonderful seafood industry. It’s great to know there is still so much support for our work.”
